Toyota Collision Repair Information - Prius Emergency Response Guide.pdf
Reviewing the Emergency Response Guide DOES NOT qualify collision repair technicians to service any Toyota Hybrid System (THS) components in the all–new Prius.
Only a Toyota Hybrid System qualified technician can perform THS service.
Specific collision repair and body panel replacement procedures can be found in the Prius Repair Manual for Collision Damage (PN 00400–BRM09–6E). Order through your Toyota dealership or by calling the Toyota Material Distribution Center at 1–800–622–2033.
The purpose of this bulletin is to provide and promote safety precautions when handling a collision damaged Prius.
Toyota Collision Repair Information - Welding High Strength Steel (H.S.S.).pdf
Taken from REPAIR GUIDELINES
H.S.S. and ordinary steel parts in Toyota vehicles are welded using the same methods. The following precautions apply:
Use either spot welding or MIG/MAG (shield gas) welding. MIG/MAG (shield gas) welding should only be done by an experienced body shop person.
Only braze body components previously brazed at the factory and as indicated in the Toyota Repair Manual for Collision Damage.
Do not use an oxy–acetylene torch for fusion welding auto bodies. The large heat affected zone may destroy galvanized coatings and cause excessive panel distortions. In addition, an oxy–acetylene torch will reduce the strength and increase the brittleness of H.S.S.
Toyota Camry Hybrid Vehicle Dismantling Manual (Gasoline Electric Hybrid Synergy Drive).pdf
Taken from Foreword: In March 2006, Toyota released the Toyota CAMRY gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle in North America. Except where noted in this guide, basic vehicle systems and features for the CAMRY hybrid are the same as those on the conventional, non-hybrid, Toyota CAMRY. To educate and assist emergency responders in the safe handling of the CAMRY hybrid technology, Toyota published this CAMRY hybrid Emergency Response Guide.
High voltage electricity powers the electric motor, generator, A/C compressor, and inverter/converter. All other automotive electrical devices such as the headlights, power steering, horn, radio, and gauges are powered from a separate 12 Volts battery. Numerous safeguards have been designed into the CAMRY to help ensure the high voltage, approximately 245 Volts, Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) Hybrid Vehicle (HV) battery pack is kept safe and secure in an accident.
