The dynamic motion of farm tractors is very complex. For only the consideration of plane motion, the knowledge of the moment of inertia suffices. For an analysis of the three dimensional motion of the tractor, however all components of inertia tensor may be of importance. In some instances when the roll, pitch and yaw motions are combined, moments and products of inertia can be useful in solving problems of ride vibration, overturning or tractor simulation as well as solving problem of stability when a tractor is coupled with an auxiliary implement. Thus knowledge of the inertia tensor is essential for the further study of tractor dynamic behavior.
