The Infinity FX uses Nissan FM platform, same as the rear wheel Nissan 350Z mid Size Car. The Infiniti FX is a successor of Infiniti QX4 and categorized as Mid size luxury crossover SUV. Released for the first time in the same time as Porsche Cayenne and Volvo XC90, Infiniti FX is not sold in Japan, because there is no Infiniti brand in Japan.

First generation of Infiniti FX35 is available in Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) and All Wheel Drive (AWD), engine fitted in FX50 and FX35 is either VK50VE (8 cylinder V type engine, 5.0L) or VQ35HR (6 cylinder V type engine, 3.5L).
